Cisco's Dialog lets Webex AI agents keep working after the customer conversation ends
Cisco's new Dialog harness lets Webex AI agents keep working on a customer's issue after the conversation ends, as Claude and OpenAI come to Webex.
Cisco has launched Dialog, a new agentic harness for its Webex AI Agent platform that lets customer service AI agents keep working on a customer's behalf after the conversation has ended. The company announced it on 7 October 2026 at its WebexOne event in Austin, alongside Claude and OpenAI integrations for Webex.
Cisco did not name any customers using Dialog or give an availability date for it.
What does Dialog change for customer service agents?
Cisco's argument is that customer experience is held back by treating each contact as a separate, one-off interaction. Dialog is meant to connect interactions across journeys, systems and time into one continuous relationship. According to the release, it adds:
- Long-horizon execution: agents keep working after a conversation ends, coordinating across people, other agents and back-end systems until the outcome is reached
- Persistent context: customer history is combined with enterprise data so context carries across channels and over time
- Self-learning: agent performance is refined with each interaction, learning from customer journeys and from human agents' judgement, within enterprise policy
- Onboarding: AI agents are set up like new staff, by indexing existing handbooks, knowledge bases and operating procedures
Webex AI Agents run inside safety guardrails from Cisco AI Defense, with monitoring and observability through Splunk.
"The next era of work isn't about bolting chatbots onto yesterday's tools," said Jeetu Patel, President and Chief Product Officer at Cisco. "It's about AI agents working alongside people and teams, being deeply embedded in their workspaces, and collaborating on a secure, trusted foundation."
Claude and OpenAI are coming into Webex
Cisco also announced two model-maker integrations for Webex itself:
- Claude in Webex, built with Anthropic's Claude Managed Agents, will let teams analyse data, generate content and carry out multi-step work using shared team context, without leaving Webex. Cisco says this is coming "soon".
- OpenAI dots gets Webex context through a Webex Suite Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration. Cisco says dots will later be available inside Webex as an always-on personal agent.
Users will also be able to invite AI agents into Webex spaces, meetings and calls by @mentioning them. In Cisco's example, an analytics agent pulls usage statistics and a presentation agent then updates a PowerPoint deck with the numbers.
On meeting-room hardware, Cisco's AI Assistant for its collaboration devices now handles natural-language requests in 32 languages, as part of RoomOS 27, due in November.
