ADCB hires Barclays' Ankit Chhajer as Senior Head of Generative AI Solutions

Super congratulations to Ankit Chhajer who has just made the move to Abu Dhabi to take up a new role for Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank.

Many will know Ankit from his time as Managing Director, CIO & Conversational AI & Gen AI at Barclays Bank. Across three years he led the bank's AI strategy, with a specific focus on implementing Conversational AI activity across the bank's key operating processes.

Prior to that, Ankit was Chief Product & Technology Officer for Artificial Intelligence and Chatbots (Cora) for another international financial services AI leader, NatWest Bank. It was working at NatWest where I first got to know Ankit and I've been following his career journey since then.

He's been a hot property for some time as there aren't that many executives globally who were doing AI before the ChatGPT 'Cambrian Moment' and I'd suggest that ADCB have played a blinder convincing him to make the move to the region.

This will also have created some waves in the region too: His move puts a lot of pressure on other institutions across the region to make sure they've got similar experience and capabilities on their roster.

I'm hopeful I might be able to convince Ankit to join a podcast episode in due course although no doubt his schedule is ridiculously packed already! Good luck Ankit and congratulations team ADCB.
